Topday's question:



What is the difference between distance and displacement?

Distance is the length of path traveled by a particle in motion.
Displacement is the shortest (straight line) distance between initial and final position.

Distance is scalar and displacement is a vector.
It means we require magnitude as well as direction to define 'displacement'.
Addition of distances can be done arithmetically but for displacement we have to use law of triangle and law of polygon of vectors.
